Job Description:

The Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC) is a key role within the postal service responsible for assisting in the delivery of mail to rural areas. This position is crucial in ensuring that residents living in less accessible locations receive their mail promptly and efficiently. The ARC will work part-time or as needed to cover regular carrier absences or during periods of high mail volume. Deliver mail and packages to designated rural routes in a timely and accurate manner. Assist in the sorting of mail and loading the vehicle for delivery. Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving delivery issues. Ensure the safe operation and handling of postal vehicles while adhering to traffic laws and postal regulations. Collect outgoing mail from assigned areas and return to the post office for processing. Maintain accurate records and logs of mail deliveries and any discrepancies. Participate in mandatory training sessions and safety meetings as required. Proficiency in operating a vehicle and a strong understanding of rural postal routes. Excellent communication skills to interact with residents and postal staff. Problem-solving skills for handling delivery challenges and maintaining service quality. Physical stamina to handle prolonged driving and navigating varying terrain. Basic organizational skills to manage delivery schedules and record-keeping.
