Job Description:
We have space lasers! Project Kuiper is Amazon’s Low Earth Orbit
satellite broadband network. Its mission is to provide low-latency,
high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved
communities around the world. Join us in delivering fast, reliable
internet to customers and communities around the world. We are
looking for a collaborative and curious Senior Network Development
Engineer to build the routing and switching required to scale and
operate a global Service Provider network. You will create
ground-up processes, solve for complex scenarios, and be part of
the team planning and deploying the terrestrial interface to a
constellation of 3,236 satellites. Export Control Requirement: Due
to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must
be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e.,
current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a
refugee or granted asylum. Key job responsibilities - Continuously
strive for operational excellence by seeking to automate away
manual processes - Design robust, scalable, maintainable, and
adaptable networks based on customer needs and business
requirements - Select and test network equipment for new
initiatives and lifecycle replacement - Integrate solutions into
existing highly available physical and cloud networks - Develop and
document standards for network monitoring metrics, trouble ticket
handling, performance dashboards, and incident response - Mentor
engineers and collaborate with other networking, systems
development, and software teams - Provide support and incident
response as part of an on-call rotation A day in the life A Senior
Network Development Engineer in Kuiper Network Services is
responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and
operating network equipment that enables broadband network systems
worldwide. We define standards, select and test platforms, and
design for resiliency and scalability. We work in collaboration
with other teams for designing and delivering scalable, flexible,
low latency, and high throughput network functions. We develop
flexible and cost-effective solutions in support of connecting and
peering with public and private networks. About the team Kuiper
Network’s goal to connect users around the world is a commitment to
not just establish networks but to connect customers to services.
These services enable customer terminals and applications the
ability to interface with the larger world. Our services come into
focus for each Kuiper subscriber at activation from address
assignment and name resolution to secure and programmable network
functions. The Network Services team works backward from end-user’s
perspective as we design and develop network functions that serve
their unique asks. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 8 years of major internet
routing protocols experience - 5 years of working in a Linux/Unix
environment experience - 3 years of automation scripting using
Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience - Thorough understanding
of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, and Network Security architecture
and core technologies such as IP, TCP, OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, MPLS,
Firewalls, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, etc. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
Experience building, integrating, and maintaining systems for
managing and monitoring both physical and cloud-based routers and

the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base
pay for this position ranges from $143,200/year in our lowest
geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic
market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market
location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills,
and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent
