This role is ideal for someone who doesn’t just assemble complex wire harnesses but can document the process clearly and turn it into usable Work Instructions for others to follow. TITLE: 1st Article Cable Assembler LOCATION : Auburn, WA SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday | 7:30am – 3:30pm - Mandatory overtime as needed PAY : $21/hour BENEFITS OFFERED: Paid weekly Direct deposit Affordable healthcare options Full-time, stable work Career growth opportunities ABOUT THE ROLE The 1st Article Assembler is responsible for building first-time, complex cable and wire harness assemblies from drawings and specifications—and just as importantly, creating clear, easy-to-follow Work Instructions that establish the standard for production. This position plays a key role in quality, consistency, and knowledge transfer across the floor. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES ·Build complex wire harnesses using drawings, schematics, and standard work ·Create and document clear, simple Work Instructions using software templates (this is a must-have skill) ·Assemble wiring harnesses using hand tools and automated equipment ·Perform soldering and crimping on contacts and splices across various AWG sizes ·Properly install, load, and verify connectors ·Identify cables and wires using color codes, pinouts, or instruments such as multimeters ·Build assemblies on Form Board Drawings with clean routing and professional wire dressing ·Communicate effectively using technical terminology with peers and leadership ·Work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision ·Complete all required build and quality documentation accurately ·Maintain a clean, organized workstation following 5S standards ·Meet attendance standards with consistent, reliable daily attendance ·Comply with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and J-Standard certification requirements REQUIREMENTS ·Minimum 1 year of 1st Article or related cable assembly experience ·Proven ability to write and document Work Instructions that others can follow ·Basic math and reading skills ·Comfortable adapting to schedule changes and short-notice overtime ·Willingness to work overtime as required to meet customer demand SmartTalent Staffing is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
