Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. As an FPGA engineer for antenna systems, you will collaborate with systems architects, hardware engineering design teams & FW/SW design teams to bring up and test systems combining FPGA, firmware, RF, and networking functions and build advanced tools for the following: - Lead the design and implementation of complex embedded systems - Design software for high-volume phased array manufacturing - Develop calibration software for on-orbit applications - Characterizing subsystems and systems related to antennas - Complex data storage - Hardware test automation - Firmware design and implementation - Application development - Design automation for 2D and 3D structures - Develop bring up tools and scripts for phased array systems Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Key job responsibilities In this role, you will: - Have ownership of one or more FPGA bitstreams - Collaborate with network communication system architects to define and design/implement/test/release/support networking functions targeted to FPGA technology - Collaborate with RF and Digital Communications engineers to implement digital logic functions in FPGAs - Drive trade-off analysis to benefit the Customer experience BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience - 5 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience - 5 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field - Experience with modern ASIC/FPGA design and verification tools - Experience in writing test scripts (Python preferred) to validate FPGA images in HW. - 5 years experience in FPGA design and Implementation using System Verilog. - Experience with Xilinx/AMD (or Altera) FPGAs. - Experience with uArchitecture, RTL coding, FPGA optimization for timing & power, simulation, and validation PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - 5 years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Master's degree in computer science or equivalent - Experience with phased array antennas and/or other complex RF systems - Experience with high speed networking, SerDes, 50G/100G Ethernet or Interlaken - Familiarity with AXI4 and AXI Streaming interfaces - Proven track record of successfully fielding and supporting FPGA and ASIC products Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
