experience): $24.75 - $34.54 . Job Summary The role of the
Endoscopy Technician is to support and assist the GI physician
under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The technician assists
the practitioner in the performance of endoscopic procedures. These
procedures range in complexity from simple endoscopy to the more
advanced therapeutic interventional procedures. The technician is
responsible for cleaning scopes, maintaining the proper performance
of equipment, proper storage, handling, and transport of equipment,
ordering supplies and equipment, procedural room turn over with
appropriate infection prevention practice, and ensuring the
appropriate inventory level is maintained. The incumbent must
possess technical skills to appropriately troubleshoot equipment
issues and scope management, as well as, have a basic knowledge of
GI anatomy and medical terminology. Demonstrates appropriate scope
management knowledge and skills. Perform proper bedside
reprocessing. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and
promotes efficiency of operations. Demonstrates commitment to
maintaining and improving departmental standards of care and
practice. The incumbent may perform clinic duties, as a MA
Registered, when not assisting during procedures. Job Specific
Duties and Responsibilities 1. *Assist physician with procedure.
Prepares room and patient for procedure, anticipates needs,
maintains scopes, positions patients as directed. 2. *Explain
procedures to patient and provide instructions to ensure patient
cooperation and to minimize discomfort. Provides both emotional and
physical support to patients during procedure. Takes and records
vital signs. Assists with admission/discharge procedures as
directed. Collects, prepares and label specimen accurately.
Completes all required documentation. Makes post procedure phone
calls. 3. *Patient Safety; Reports patient finding/observations to
supervisor or RN responsible for the patient in a timely fashion.
4. *Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control
procedures according to policy. Supports and uphold established
policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety,
environmental infection control, and codes and requirements of
accreditation and regulatory agencies. Disinfects and cleans
scopes, completes sterile processing, and maintains work areas. 5.
*Maintains an understanding of equipment, orders supplies and
maintains an adequate supply in procedure rooms, utility rooms,
pre-op and recovery area. 6. Performs clinic duties as a MA
Registered. 7. *Attends educational programs, unit meetings and
assigned committees. Participates in performance improvement
activities and shares responsibility for teaching and orientation
of new personnel (within own skill level). 8. Performs special
projects and other related duties as assigned. *Essential Job

Organizational Responsibilities In addition to the duties and
responsibilities listed above, all employees are expected to adhere

with policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines, and act in an

Required Education and Experience • High School diploma or
equivalent. • Associates Degree preferred. • Surgical Technology,
Anesthesia Technologist, Certified Nurse Assistant or Medical
Assistant program required. Required Licenses, Certifications
and/or Registrations 1. Current Surgical Technologist
Certification, Nursing Assistant Certification or Certified Medical
Assistant licensure in the state of Washington required. 2.
Endoscopy Technician Certificate preferred. 3. Current Basic Life
Support (BLS) certification required within 90-days of hire.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 1. Sterile processing, scope
processing and maintenance, patient care, time management. Physical
Requirements The position requires lifting less than 10 pounds and
lifting between 10–35 pounds on a constant basis (more than 70% of
the time). Lifting more than 35 pounds is required occasionally
(approximately 10–30% of the time). Carrying less than 10 pounds
and carrying between 10–35 pounds occur frequently (about 30–70% of
the time). Carrying more than 35 pounds is required seldom
(approximately 1–10% of the time). Pushing and pulling loads
between 0–35 pounds are required constantly throughout the workday.
The role involves sitting, standing, and walking on a constant
basis . Bending and stooping are also required constantly , while
crouching occurs frequently . The position involves frequent
exposure to bloodborne pathogens (BBP) as part of normal job
