through our IAM/Boeing Joint Apprenticeship Program, for Facilities
Crane Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship in the Puget Sound region
in Washington State!This comprehensive 4-year training program
consists of 8,000 hours of paid on-the-job training and essential
classroom education, designed to equip you with the skills needed
to excel in crane maintenance. The program begins with a 20%
probationary period, allowing you to acclimate to the role while
gaining valuable hands-on experience. You will attend school for at
least 144 unpaid hours per school year, registered through a local
Community and Technical College. Your wages as an apprentice will
be defined in Article 17 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
between the International Association of Machinists District 751
and The Boeing Company, with progression to a higher wage step for
every 1,000 hours of recorded on-the-job training until completion.
Upon graduation, you will be placed in the target job at the
maximum rate and receive a journey-worker certificate and card
recognized worldwide.As an apprentice, you will gain hands-on
experience in performing maintenance on various types of cranes,
including cab-controlled overhead cranes, floor-controlled (radio
or pendant) overhead cranes, and jib cranes. Your training will
encompass critical tasks such as inspecting, diagnosing,
assembling, disassembling, adjusting, and testing cranes essential
for lifting, moving, and positioning aircraft assemblies,
equipment, and materials. Additionally, you will develop
troubleshooting skills and learn to work safely at extreme heights,
ultimately earning your certification as a Crane Inspector. This
program is designed to prepare you for a successful career in crane
maintenance within the aviation industry, and we seek applicants
with a strong willingness and aptitude for learning,
problem-solving, and continuous improvement.Applicant Eligibility:
Applicants must not have previously enrolled in or completed an
IAM/Boeing Joint Apprenticeship program.Application Instructions:To

- Proficiency in math and English must be verified through one of

- Completing Intermediate Algebra or a higher-level math course
within the last 5 years.
- Completion of an English course with a grade of 90 or
better.Documentation: At the time of application, provide
documentation for all completed courses, test challenges,
certificates, and degree programs.Qualification for Blueprint
Reading and Precision Measuring Tools: You can meet the
qualifications through one of the following methods, which will be
verified via your resume, work history, and transcripts:Vocational

- Portable Tool RepairPosition Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with SHEA and applicable codes and
regulations for overhead cranes.
- Collaborate with management, engineering, and equipment vendors
to analyze equipment design requirements and capabilities.
- Utilize schematics, blueprints, and technical documents to
guide maintenance and repair tasks.
- Develop methods and shop aids for tasks where procedures may
not be available.
- Operate and maintain mechanical and test equipment for failure
analysis and predictive/preventative maintenance on cranes.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and
electric brake system components on cranes.
- Conduct operational and load tests of cranes and bridges in
accordance with engineering and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain logs, charts, and records of maintenance activities,
preparing reports and schedules as needed.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions to determine maintenance needs and
develop corrective action plans.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on crane systems,
including assembly and disassembly of components.
- Conduct visual inspections of crane systems, including rails,
cables, and safety systems, to ensure proper operation.
- Operate various electric and mechanical lifts to access cranes
and perform maintenance tasks.
- Use hand and power tools to accomplish maintenance and repair
work on crane systems.
- Respond to emergency situations and equipment failures, taking
appropriate action to mitigate risks.
- Participate in training sessions to maintain certifications
related to safety and equipment operation.Physical Demands and
Potential Hazards:
- Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging
from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.
- Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling,
turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending,
kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
- Work in environments that may involve contact with metals,
solvents, and coolants.
- Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters,
and potential slipping hazards.
- Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
- Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms,
and feet while performing job duties.This position must meet Export
Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined
by 22 C.F.R. - 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen,
lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee This position is
expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required
to work onsite at one of the listed location options. Basic
qualifications/requirements:
- Experience doing jobs or tasks where you had to apply math
skills such as: algebra, geometry and/or trigonometry.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Experience reading engineering blueprints and drawings.
- Experience working with precision measuring tools.
- High school graduate or GEDTypical Education & Experience:High
